چکیده

The atom-radical reaction of ground state carbon atoms (C(P)) with the vinyl radical (C2H3(X A0)) was conducted under single collision conditions at a collision energy of 32.3 2.9 kJ mol . The reaction dynamics were found to involve a complex forming reaction mechanism, which is initiated by the barrier-less addition of atomic carbon to the carbon–carbon-double bond of the vinyl radical forming a cyclic C3H3 radical intermediate. The latter has a lifetime of at least 1.5 times its rotational period and decomposes via a tight exit transition state located about 45 kJ mol 1 above the separated products through atomic hydrogen loss to the cyclopropenylidene isomer (c-C3H2) as detected toward cold molecular clouds and in star forming regions.

The reaction of ground state carbon atoms, C~Pj), with dimethylacetylene, H3CCCCH3 , was studied at three collision energies between 21.2 and 36.9 kJmol employing the crossed molecular beam approach. Our experiments were combined with ab initio and RRKM calculations. It is found that the reaction is barrierless via a loose, early transition state located at the centrifugal barrier following ind...

A crossed molecular beam study on the synthesis of the interstellar 2,4-pentadiynylidyne radical (HCCCCC).

Crossed molecular beam experiments are performed to elucidate the synthesis of the 2,4-penta-diynylidyne [HCCCCC(X (2)Pi)] radical under single collision conditions--a crucial reaction intermediate to form polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and carbonaceous nanostructures in the interstellar medium and in combustion flames. The experiments demonstrate that the chemical dynamics of ground state ca...

Crossed beam reaction of atomic carbon C ( 3 Pj ) with hydrogen sulfide , H 2 S ( X 1 A 1 ) : Observation of the thioformyl radical , HCS ( X 2 A 8 )

One of the simplest organosulfur reactions, that between ground state carbon atoms, C(P j), and hydrogen sulfide, H2S(X A1), was studied at an average collision energy of 21.0 kJ mol 21 using the crossed molecular beams technique. The product angular distribution and time-of-flight spectra of m/e545 (HCS) were monitored. Forward-convolution fitting of our data yields an almost isotropic center-...
